LIVE EVENT REPORT W/ GENE OKERLUND

Gene Okerlund joined us for the Live Event Report to give the final rundown for tonight's show in Boston, main evented by Dusty Rhodes & Jim Duggan defending the World Tag Team Titles against Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen in a steel cage match. The Intercontinental Title would also be defended in what Mean Gene called the "final battle" between champion Ted DiBiase & challenger Dino Bravo, a match to be contested under falls-count-anywhere rules. Wahoo McDaniel gets an opportunity to take on Tully Blanchard in a non-title match, the tag team match between the Fabulous Ones & the Electric Dream Machine we expected at Saturday Night Slam Masters will take place finally, as well as upstart Koko B. Ware meeting "Adorable" Adrian Adonis. Not only that, but a huge battle royal! Should be a fantastic show, so get your tickets now!

MATCH #4
Television Title Match
Tully Blanchard (c) (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan (World Tag Team champion)

Both competitors here were taking a big risk by participating in this match. Tully Blanchard takes on Wahoo McDaniel tonight and Blanchard has stated that he would find losing to Wahoo to be a disgrace. Jim Duggan has the big opportunity to walk out of Superstars with his first singles championship, but he is also 1/2 of the World Tag Team champions with Dusty Rhodes and defends against the former champs, Sgt. Slaughter & Stan Hansen, tonight in a steel cage match. Prospects were looking good for Hacksaw early as he was bouncing Blanchard around the ring like a basketball, but it was short lived when inevitably STAN HANSEN got involved. Duggan had went after Blanchard on the floor when the champ tried to escape, hitting him with a bodyslam before tossing him back in. Referee Joey Marella was checking on Blanchard who was complaining of a back injury which is when Hansen struck, throwing Duggan head first into the ringpost before putting him back in the ring. Duggan was groggy and Blanchard's back injury was suddenly feeling better. Blanchard struck with the Slingshot Suplex and the Television Title was retained.

Tully Blanchard pinned Jim Duggan with the Slingshot Suplex in 0:03:38.
Rating: ** 1/2
(Tully Blanchard retained the GCW Television Title.)
[Stan Hansen interfered against Jim Duggan.]

Hansen looked to want to continue the attack, but DUSTY RHODES ran down and prevented anything further from taking place. Word is that Duggan was a bit shaken up by the assault, but will be good to go to defend the tag titles tonight.

THE FLOWER SHOP W/ RICK MARTEL

This week's episode of Superstars ended with the Flower Shop, "Adorable" Adrian Adonis' very flamboyant interview program. After doing some of his usual antics, Adonis brought out his guest, Rick Martel. Martel led with a health update on his friend Bob Backlund, saying that thanks to the Heenan Family & King Kong Bundy, Backlund's leg injury could have him out for several months. Martel said he is tired of Bundy & the Heenan Family thinking they can get away with whatever they want to, running roughshot around GCW while President Jack Tunney does nothing. Martel was to the point of practically begging Tunney to overturn his ruling that Martel was banned from ever competing for the World Title so that he could bring an end to the injustices of the Heenan Family once and for all. Adonis reminded Martel (quite rudely, mind you) that Martel knew what he was getting into when Tunney told him not to get involved in Bundy's matches, so he has no one to blame but himself. Martel told Adonis he wasn't in the mood and told Adonis there was no stipulation in place preventing him from knocking the makeup right off of his cross-dressing face. Adonis feigned backing down, and then threw a wild punch at Martel. Martel blocked in and knocked Adonis down with a punch of his own. Officials came in to separate the two to end the program.

Join us next week on Superstars where we have just learned that Rick Martel will take on Adrian Adonis! Not only that, but Koko B. Ware meets Bad News Brown, and we will hear from World champion King Kong Bundy about what Martel said tonight. Don't miss it!
