April 27, 1963 - Madison Square Garden - New York, NY

The Golden Grahams (Eddie Graham and Dr. Jerry Graham) defeated Argentina Apollo and Johnny Valentine when Dr. J. Graham defeated Apollo via pinfall in 0:16:00.
Rating: ** 3/4

Johnny Valentine & Argentina Apollo tried their hand at a partnership, and thus far, it was an unsuccessful experiment. They wrestled hard, but ultimately fell to the Golden Grahams.

Mark Lewin pinned Bill Watts after a chokehold in 0:11:16.
Rating: ** 3/4

Bill Watts is not having much luck with matches and chokeholds. "Maniac" Mark Lewin showed just how crazy he is by choking Watts out (being careful to release each choke before the 5 count which would be a disqualification) and getting a pinfall. Watts is already asking for a rematch.

Lou Thesz pinned Freddie Blassie after a German suplex in 0:00:44.
Rating: *

Lou Thesz wasn't working by the hour as he pinned "Classy" Freddie Blassie in less than a minute with a German suplex. Blassie is going around claiming he had a "pulled groin" and shouldn't have even been wrestling. He said he wants one more match and will be healthy next month.

Crusher & Bruiser (The Crusher and Dick the Bruiser) defeated Gorilla Monsoon and Killer Kowalski when Bruiser made Kowalski submit to an airplane spin in 0:16:37.
Rating: * 1/2

A brutal tag match between four bruising individuals. The win went to Dick the Bruiser & The Crusher tonight, but could just as easily go in reverse if these two teams met again.

Ernie Ladd pinned Pedro Morales with the Boot to the Face in 0:13:58.
Rating: *** 1/4

Pedro Morales has shown great fire and improvement, but it hasn't translated to many victories yet as he fell just short of beating Ernie Ladd tonight. Despite the early growing pains, the future is bright for Pedro Morales.

Bobo Brazil and Danny Hodge defeated The Madmen (Abdullah the Butcher and The Sheik) when Hodge defeated Abdullah by disqualification in 0:29:19.
Rating: 3/4*

We saw the official debut of Abdullah the Butcher, teaming with The Sheik. The Madmen wrestled Bobo Brazil & new United States champion Danny Hodge. The Madmen showed that they are truly out of control as they turned this into a brutal brawl. Eventually referee Greg Massie couldn't let the violence go on and disqualified the Madmen when Abdullah used a fork on Hodge.

Antonino Rocca and Miguel Perez defeated Skull Murphy and Brute Bernard when Rocca made Bernard submit to the Argentine Backbreaker in 0:11:07.
Rating: ** 1/2
(Antonino Rocca and Miguel Perez retained the GCW World Tag Team Titles.)

Antonino Rocca & Miguel Perez remain unbeaten and the tag team champions after a win over Skull Murphy & Brute Bernard.

Match where the title can change hands via DQ or countout:
Bruno Sammartino made Buddy Rogers submit to the Sammartino Backbreaker in 0:20:26.
Rating: *** 1/2
(Bruno Sammartino won the GCW World Title.)

Buddy Rogers had nowhere to run and nowhere to hide because if he got counted out or disqualified, Bruno Sammartino would automatically be the new World champion. The Nature Boy did everything he could think of to defeat Sammartino, but he just couldn't get it figured out. Sammartino weathered the storm, locked on the Sammartino Backbreaker, and is the NEW GCW World champion!

Card rating: ** 1/4

Match observations:

Bruno Sammartino is the new World champion, and his Backbreaker has so devastating, Buddy Rogers suffered a severe back injury and at the advice of his doctors has retired from the sport of professional wrestling.

Our next show is May 25th from the Capitol Arena in Washington, DC:

Bill Watts vs. Mark Lewin
Danny Hodge defends the United States Title against Gene Kiniski
Lou Thesz vs. Freddie Blassie
Bobo Brazil vs. Abdullah the Butcher

More matches to be signed in coming weeks.
