August 14, 1965 - Madison Square Garden - New York, NY

Bobo Brazil pinned Mark Lewin with the Coco Butt in 0:07:16.
Rating: ** 3/4

Bobo Brazil came within an eyelash of winning the World Title last month, but fell just short. He got back on the winning track by pinning Mark Lewin in our opener, much to the delight of James Dudley and his spinning towel.

Luke Graham pinned The Crusher with the Thumb to the Throat in 0:16:32.
Rating: **

Luke Graham has been very impressive since making his debut, despite his unorthodox personality. He had a tough task tonight as he took on a former World Tag Team champion in The Crusher. The Crusher doesn't care about if Luke Graham doesn't like to be called "Crazy" or not - he was just there to punch him in the face repeatedly. What The Crusher didn't account for was a way to counter the Thumb to the Throat, which caught him and put this one in the books.

Pedro Morales and Dominic DeNucci and The Blond Bombers (Pat Patterson and Ray Stevens) battled to a double countout in 0:07:49.
Rating: * 3/4

Ray Stevens introduced his tag team partner who he claims will help him become a World Tag Team champion sooner rather than later. That man is "Pretty Boy" Pat Patterson. Though the antics of Stevens & Patterson weren't appreciated by the fans in New York, it can't be denied that they looked tremendous as a team against Pedro Morales & Dominic DeNucci, a new team in their own right. This match looks to be the start of a rivalry as nothing was settled in this one as both teams were counted out when tempers flared and the fight went to the floor.

Interview:
Bill Watts vows revenge on Bruno Sammartino.

Bill Watts came out for an interview in our next segment. In this interview, the Cowboy talked about how he was sick to his stomach that Bruno Sammartino & Spiros Arion are the new tag team champions, especially after it was last year that Sammartino said he didn't want to go for the tag titles at all. Watts said not only is he angry, but he is hurt. Watts said he will never forgive Sammartino for this kind of betrayal, and he has made it his life's mission to make Bruno's life miserable. He has went as far as to break up his successful team with Johnny Valentine to do so, and he warned that "it begins tonight."

Edouard Carpentier pinned Baron Mikel Scicluna with the Somersault Senton in 0:26:47.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Edouard Carpentier retained the GCW United States Title.)

Abdullah Farouk had the chance to take home 2 of GCW's 3 championships tonight, starting with Baron Mikel Scicluna taking on Edouard Carpentier for the United States Title. Scicluna won the match last month via countout, but there was no Ernie Ladd to distract Carpentier this time. The match went back and forth with Scicluna doing what he does best and that's cheat, while Carpentier used his agility to keep his foe off balance. Scicluna's cheating would backfire as he was slid a small piece of pipe by Farouk during the match, but Carpentier knocked it out of his hands and used it on the royal man from Malta. Carpentier followed with the Somersault Senton and that was all he needed to get the duke and retain the US Title. Now he awaits the winner of the Danny Hodge/Ernie Ladd match later tonight to see who he will wrestle at our next show in Toronto on September 11th.

Haystacks Calhoun pinned Dr. Jerry Graham with the Big Splash in 0:05:59.
Rating: * 3/4

Dr. Jerry Graham sure does talk a big game, and it got him into some trouble against Haystacks Calhoun. Calhoun is a gentle giant, but if you make him mad, he is going to hurt you and hurt you bad. …Dr. Jerry made him mad. Dr. Jerry got the Big Splash as a result. Dr. Jerry came out of this match a loser.

[WINNER GETS UNITED STATES TITLE SHOT]: Number-One-Contenders-Match:
Danny Hodge pinned Ernie Ladd after a waistlock suplex in 0:15:04.
Rating: *** 1/4
[Jack Davis interfered against Danny Hodge.]

Danny Hodge got the better of one of his long-standing enemies as he pinned Ernie Ladd in this match. Not only did he win a big chunk of bragging rights, but he will also challenge Edouard Carpentier on September 11th in Toronto, trying to become the first 3-time United States champion.

Antonino Rocca and Argentina Apollo defeated Gorilla Monsoon and Killer Kowalski when Apollo defeated Kowalski when Kowalski passed out in a kneebar in 0:20:38.
Rating: * 3/4

If you're a smaller wrestler, you have to know how to chop the big trees down to size, and there are few who do it better than Antonino Rocca & Argentina Apollo. The former tag team champions effectively worked over the knee of Killer Kowalski throughout this match, and it paid off when Rocca got a kneebar on the big man, forcing him to submit.

Lou Thesz made Johnny Valentine submit to an achilles tendon hold in 0:13:41.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Lou Thesz retained the GCW World Title.)

Johnny Valentine may be on his own now that Bill Watts has parted ways with him, but he had a huge opportunity when he was granted the shot at Lou Thesz and the World Title here tonight. As Lou Thesz has now done for over 2 years, he just simply continues to win. Valentine was game, but he couldn't stand the barrage of holds that Thesz throws at you. He got caught in an achilles tendon hold and that was game-set-match.

Gene Kiniski and The Sheik defeated Bruno Sammartino and Spiros Arion when Sheik defeated B. Sammartino when B. Sammartino passed out in the Camel Clutch in 0:30:53.
Rating: ** 1/2
(Gene Kiniski and The Sheik won the GCW World Tag Team Titles.)
[Abdullah Farouk interfered against Spiros Arion.]
[Bill Watts and Abdullah Farouk interfered against Bruno Sammartino.]

What a travesty our main event was! Thanks to the nefarious actions of Bill Watts, Gene Kiniski & The Sheik are thee new World Tag Team champions. Watts said he was going to make Sammartino's life miserable, and he didn't waste any time in doing so. We were having a great tag team match between four already heated rivals. As we were getting to the nitty gritty of the match, referee Grizzly Jones got bumped when he was sandwiched in the corner by Kiniski after Sammartino had thrown him into the turnbuckle. The Cowboy took this time to strike, jumping in the ring and knocking Bruno unconscious with a cowbell! Arion chased Watts off to the back, but during this time, The Sheik put the already knocked out Sammartino in the Camel Clutch. When Grizzly Jones came to, he saw Sammartino unconscious and awarded the match to Kiniski & The Sheik. Farouk got what he wanted - he is now the "proud" manager of the World Tag Team champions.

Card rating: ** 1/2
