The Cripplers (Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens) defeated Chief Jay Strongbow and Wahoo McDaniel when R. Stevens pinned Strongbow with the Bombs Away Kneedrop in 0:27:48.
Rating: ****

Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens are desperate to prove that they are the real deal, and a victory over the former tag team champions will do just that. In a great 30 minute tag team clash, the tag team offense of Bockwinkel & Stevens proved to be the difference as the Cripplers picked up the duke.

Gorilla Monsoon defeated Ole Anderson when Ole Anderson passed out in a nerve hold in 0:02:14.
Rating: * 1/2

This match was a squash - literally. When you wrestle the 400-plus pound Gorilla Monsoon, a lot of matches are going to be squashes. Monsoon makes short work of Ole Anderson.

Baron Mikel Scicluna pinned Miguel Perez with the Fistdrop in 0:10:26.
Rating: ** 1/2

Baron Mikel Scicluna's amazing turn-around sees another victory picked up over Miguel Perez.

Terry Funk made Thunderbolt Patterson submit to the Spinning Toe Hold in 0:14:37.
Rating: ***

Since turning his back on his own flesh and blood, Terry Funk has been super aggressive, as you can ask Thunderbolt Patterson after tonight. Patterson almost had the win when he hit the Thunderbolt Right, but unfortunately for him, it knocked Terry Funk out of the ring. Funk recovered and hit Patterson in the knee with his branding iron, softening Patterson up for the Spinning Toe Hold.

Crusher & Bruiser (The Crusher and Dick the Bruiser) defeated Bobo Brazil and Peter Maivia when Bruiser pinned Maivia after hitting him with a chain in 0:13:03.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Crusher & Bruiser retained the GCW World Tag Team Titles.)

[Lou Albano interfered against Peter Maivia.]

For as tough as Dick the Bruiser & The Crusher are, they're not against using underhanded tactics to secure a victory, especially when their World Tag Team Titles are on the line against the formidable team of Bobo Brazil & Peter Maivia. I don't care who you are - if Dick the Bruiser hits you with a steel chain, you're going to go down. That's exactly what happened to Maivia as he ate the pinfall allowing the champions to retain the titles.

Pedro Morales pinned Bill Watts after a cross-body block in 0:12:38.
Rating: *** 1/4

Pedro Morales still has a lot of unfinished business with Bill Watts for costing him the United States Title, and he got a small measure of revenge here at MSG. Watts thought he had things well in control when he went for a back superplex, but Morales countered into a cross-body block that drove the wind out of the Cowboy's lungs, giving Morales the win.

Dory Funk Jr. made Johnny Valentine submit to the Texas Cloverleaf in 0:27:25.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Dory Funk Jr. won the GCW United States Title.)

Despite having some unfinished business with his brother Terry, Dory Funk Jr. had the chance of a lifetime as he challenged Johnny Valentine for the United States Title. If the falling out with his brother was on his mind, he didn't let it show as Dory was focused solely on beating Valentine to win his first singles championship. It was Dory's night when he was able to kick Valentine away as he tried the Figure-Four right into the corner. Dory took Valentine down and locked on the Texas Cloverlead to get a submission victory and capture the US Title. As Funk was awarded the title, his brother TERRY came out to try to get a piece of his brother but security cut him off. Congratulations to Dory Funk Jr., the new US champion!

Karl Gotch made Ernie Ladd submit to a sleeperhold in 0:18:45.
Rating: *** 1/2

Ernie Ladd got his wish in the form of a match against Karl Gotch, and when it was all said and done, one has to wonder if the King had wished he wished for something else. Ladd got too confident when he was using his size advantage to throw Gotch around, but Gotch was simply suckering Ladd in before he got him in a sleeperhold and got Ladd to tap. Since the match went down, Ladd has been claiming it was an illegal chokehold and wants a rematch, a request Gotch was more than happy to oblige.

Bruno Sammartino made Gene Kiniski submit to the Sammartino Backbreaker in 0:19:12.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Bruno Sammartino retained the GCW World Title.)
[Lou Albano interfered against Bruno Sammartino.]

The first man to get a shot at Bruno Sammartino's World Title was the man who last beat him for it years ago, Gene Kiniski. As we see every time these two wrestle, it always looks like Kiniski has Bruno's number. Kiniski targeted Bruno's ribs again and made him suffer for most of this match, but couldn't hit the Backbreaker to put Bruno away. Kiniski missed a top-rope kneedrop which turned this match around, allowing Bruno to muster up the strength to put the Sammartino Backbreaker on and retain the title.

Card rating: ***
