February 25, 1967 - Madison Square Garden - New York, NY

Interview:
Killer Kowalski wants a World Title shot.

The show kicked off with Killer Kowalski coming out and demanding that he get the World Title shot that he deserved, saying that Gene Kiniski is walking around with the title that should be rightfully his. This brought out Abdullah Farouk, Kiniski's manager. Farouk said that if Kowalski wants a title shot, he is going to have to do something to prove that he is worthy. Kowalski told Farouk that wouldn't be a problem.

Gorilla Monsoon and Haystacks Calhoun defeated The Golden Grahams (Dr. Jerry Graham and Eddie Graham) when Calhoun pinned Dr. J. Graham with the Big Splash in 0:14:40.
Rating: * 3/4

This was a rematch from last month, and the result was the same as the massive team of Gorilla Monsoon & Haystacks Calhoun outsized and thus outshined the Golden Grahams.

Luke Graham pinned Danny Hodge with the Thumb to the Throat in 0:17:01.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Luke Graham retained the GCW United States Title.)

Luke Graham just keeps winning. The United States champion has held the gold for over a year now and has been undefeated for even longer than that. Tonight it wasn't easy, but he retained the title by defeating the man who was the first US champion, Danny Hodge. Graham is becoming increasingly cocky with each win, now boastfully claiming that he is unbeatable. And the sad thing is, he may be right.

Pedro Morales and Dominic DeNucci defeated Bill Watts and Johnny Valentine when Morales made Watts submit to the Boston Crab in 0:17:50.
Rating: ***

Pedro Morales & Dominic DeNucci picked up a huge tag team victory over the former 3-time champions Bill Watts & Johnny Valentine, and have thus established themselves as a top contender in GCW. The match was even from bell-to-bell, but Pedro Morales got the Boston Crab on the Cowboy. Watts held on as best he could but was forced to submit. After the match, Lou Albano was furious at Watts for tapping out and got in his face about it. Watts tried to take it before Albano slapped him across the face! This was more than Watts could take as he grabbed Albano around the throat only for Valentine to attack Watts from behind! Valentine pounded on Watts, but the Cowboy turned the tide and sent Valentine & Albano from the ring. We've learned that we won't be seeing Watts for awhile, but it was nice to see him sent off with a big ovation from the crowd.

Hiro Matsuda pinned Argentina Apollo after a lariat in 0:06:07.
Rating: *** 1/2

Argentina Apollo came within an eyelash of winning the World Title last month, but this week he took on one of Kiniski's stablemates, Hiro Matsuda. Matsuda has shown that he is ruthless in the ring, and he showed it again when he rocked Apollo's jaw with a lariat for the 1-2-3. Matsuda wanted to inflict more damage after the match, but ANTONINO ROCCA & MIGUEL PEREZ came to the ring to make sure that didn't happen.

Jack Brisco and Dory Funk Jr. battled to a draw in 0:20:00.
Rating: *** 3/4

Jack Brisco made his debut last month by attacking Dory Funk Jr. and costing him the United States Title. We weren't sure at the time why he did so, but in speaking to both men, we know that the Funks and the Briscos just do not get along. It's a matter of pride and proving which man is the best, and nothing got proven in this one as the two battled to a time limit draw. That didn't stop the two from fighting as they had to be pulled apart by officials. The two will meet again next month in Boston on March 25th to try to settle this.

Crusher & Bruiser (The Crusher and Dick the Bruiser) defeated The Pretty Boys (Pat Patterson and Larry Hennig) when Crusher pinned L. Hennig with the Bolo Punch in 0:19:12.
Rating: ** 1/4
(Crusher & Bruiser retained the GCW World Tag Team Titles.)

Dick the Bruiser & The Crusher may have walked out of MSG the winners, but they suffered a huge loss thanks to the Pretty Boys. Pat Patterson & Larry Hennig did not take the loss too well and were able to tie The Crusher up in the ropes. Dick the Bruiser tried to help him out, but Patterson (still wearing that mask) slipped a plate into the mask and headbutt Bruiser in the back of the head to knock him out. The Crusher desperately tried to break free, but he couldn't in time to stop Patterson from jumping off the top rope with a kneedrop, breaking the Bruiser's left arm! Patterson yelled that was for Ray Stevens, his former partner. We didn't have an update right after the show, but it doesn't look good for Dick the Bruiser.

Bobo Brazil defeated Baron Mikel Scicluna by disqualification in 0:06:41.
Rating: *

Killer Kowalski was told to show he deserved a World title shot, and he sure did that when during this match between Bobo Brazil & Baron Mikel Scicluna, Kowalski came out and attacked Brazil. Sure, Scicluna lost by disqualification, but Brazil is Farouk's biggest enemy by far so having a piece taken out of him made Farouk very happy. We heard that Farouk was more than happy to give Kowalski a title shot, but the GCW Championship Committee intervened, instead signing a #1 contenders match between Bobo Brazil & Killer Kowalski for next month in Boston.

Gene Kiniski pinned Edouard Carpentier with the Backbreaker in 0:16:27.
Rating: **
(Gene Kiniski retained the GCW World Title.)

Gene Kiniski had another tough test tonight in our main event as he defended the World Title against former United States champion, Edouard Carpentier. Just like Argentina Apollo last month, Carpentier looked to use his speed and agility to stay away from the brutal Kiniski, but it only worked for so long. Once Kiniski got a hold of Carpentier, he wore him down and finished him off with the Backbreaker.

Card rating: ** 1/2

Match observations:

We got an announcement on March 1st that because of the broken forearm of Dick the Bruiser, there was no other choice but to strip The Crusher and he of the World Tag Team Titles. As a result, on March 25th, we will be holding a one-night 8-team tournament to crown new tag team champions. To be held at the Boston Gardens, the following teams have been announced:

Pedro Morales & Dominic DeNucci
The Pretty Boys
Antonino Rocca & Miguel Perez
The Golden Grahams
Gorilla Monsoon & Haystacks Calhoun
The Sheik & Baron Mikel Scicluna
Johnny Valentine & a partner of his choosing
The Crusher & a partner of his choosing

We will also see Dory Funk Jr. vs. Jack Brisco, and Bobo Brazil meet Killer Kowalski in a #1 contenders match!
