June 17, 1967 - Madison Square Garden - New York, NY

The Firecrackers (Antonino Rocca and Miguel Perez) defeated The Golden Grahams (Dr. Jerry Graham and Eddie Graham) when Perez pinned Dr. J. Graham with the Jumping Piledriver in 0:06:34.
Rating: *** 1/4

The night started off with Antonino Rocca & Miguel Perez getting a win over the Golden Grahams. Rocca & Perez are trying to position themselves to get a chance to regain the tag team titles, titles they haven't held in almost 4 years.

Jack Brisco pinned Danny Hodge with the Figure-Four Leglock in 0:16:37.
Rating: ***

This was just a great pure wrestling match between Danny Hodge & Jack Brisco. Most haven't liked Brisco's attitude, but it's hard to deny his wrestling acumen. You have to be a great wrestler to match Hodge hold for hold, which he did en route to a victory.

The Half-Ton Team (Gorilla Monsoon and Haystacks Calhoun) defeated Baron Mikel Scicluna and Killer Kowalski when Calhoun pinned Scicluna with the Big Splash in 0:05:38.
Rating: * 1/2

Killer Kowalski & Baron Mikel Scicluna were thrown together as a team, and that teamwork just wasn't there as they had to take on over 1000 pounds of Gorilla Monsoon & Haystacks Calhoun. Kowalski & Scicluna tried to rough the Half-Ton Team up, but that's easier said than done and was futile as Monsoon & Calhoun were victorious.

Luke Graham defeated Antonio Inoki by countout in 0:08:22.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Antonio Inoki retained the GCW United States Title.)
[Hiro Matsuda interfered against Antonio Inoki.]

What in the world does Hiro Matsuda think he's doing? This match was the much anticipated rematch for the United States Title between champion Antonio Inoki and Luke Graham, but Lou Albano had other plans as he instructed his charge Matsuda to get involved. Graham knocked Inoki to the floor and was going out to attack him, but was intercepted by referee Terry Taranova. While Crazy Luke protested and tried to get to the floor, Matsuda ran down and hit Inoki with a thrust kick to the throat! Inoki was out and couldn't recover in time as he was counted out. Inoki loses, but keeps the US Title. This infuriated Luke Graham who continued the assault on Inoki until GIANT BABA ran down to save his partner. On our very special show that will take place at Comiskey Park in Chicago on June 28th, Giant Baba will meet Graham and Antonio Inoki will defend the US Title against Hiro Matsuda!

Chief Jay Strongbow made Johnny Valentine submit to the Indian Deathlock in 0:02:25.
Rating: ***

Johnny Valentine's recent woes continued in this match against Chief Jay Strongbow. Valentine was thankful not to be in a tag team match with his manager Lou Albano, but Albano was not even with him at ringside for this match against Strongbow as he was still dealing with Hiro Matsuda. Valentine was way off his game and it only took Strongbow about 2 and a half minutes to put this one away.

Pedro Morales and Dominic DeNucci defeated Gene Kiniski and The Sheik when Morales defeated Sheik by disqualification in 0:22:07.
Rating: * 1/4
(Pedro Morales and Dominic DeNucci retained the GCW World Tag Team Titles.)
[Abdullah Farouk interfered against Pedro Morales.]

Gene Kiniski is not long removed from being the World champion, which allowed Abdullah Farouk to weasel he and The Sheik into an opportunity to regain the World Tag Team Titles from Pedro Morales & Dominic DeNucci. Kiniski & The Sheik hadn't lost a step in tag matches, but Morales & DeNucci have established themselves as the cream of the crop in GCW's highly competitive tag team division. In the end, The Sheik got a little overzealous and jabbed Morales in the forehead with a pencil, causing the disqualification. This one isn't over yet as a rematch has been signed for the show at Comiskey Park.

Hiro Matsuda made Dory Funk Jr. submit to the Japanese Sleeper in 0:12:49.
Rating: *** 3/4
[Lou Albano interfered against Dory Funk Jr..]

Hiro Matsuda showed that there is no level that he won't stoop to in order to pick up a win, and luckily for him, Lou Albano is the type of manager than encourages that. Dory Funk Jr. needed eyes in the back of his head and unfortunately did not see the salt coming that Albano threw in his eyes. Funk was blinded and in immense pain, so when Matsuda locked on the Japanese Sleeper, he had to submit.

Crusher & Bruiser (The Crusher and Dick the Bruiser) and The Pretty Boys (Pat Patterson and Larry Hennig) battled to a double disqualification in 0:12:57.
Rating: * 3/4

This was the first match back for Dick the Bruiser back from the broken arm he received thanks to Pat Patterson & Larry Hennig, and he had trouble controlling him emotions in this return against those two. Bruiser & Crusher are vicious to begin with, but when they are mad at you, it goes to an entirely different level. The match wasn't going to be settled under standard rules as this one was declared a double disqualification when it denigrated into an all-out brawl. This one will get settled one way or another at Comiskey Park as the two teams will wrestle in a Chicago Streetfight!

Bobo Brazil pinned Ernie Ladd with the Coco Butt in 0:18:35.
Rating: ** 1/4
(Bobo Brazil retained the GCW World Title.)
[James Dudley interfered against Ernie Ladd.]
[Jack Davis interfered against Bobo Brazil.]

Ernie Ladd has a recent pinfall victory over Bobo Brazil, but that was before Brazil had won the World Title. This one was for the championship. Brazil seemed re-energized now that James Dudley is back in his corner and was not about to let his World Title reign come to an end this early into it. Ladd thinks he is the uncrowned champion with the fact that he has pinned Brazil before, but tonight was Brazil's night as the champions hit the Coco Butt to retain the gold. In recent months, the score is now even. These two will meet one more time at Comiskey Park, but it will be in a steel cage match!

Card rating: ** 1/2
