The United States Title Tournament kicked off with the young Pedro Morales making "Maniac" Mark Lewin submit to a figure-four leglock. With the way he wrestled, this could be Morales' night.

The Sheik moved on in tournament, but it was thanks to the debut of another madman, ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER. The Butcher viciously assaulted Brazil on the floor while The Sheik had the referee distracted, giving him the countout victory. The Sheik & Abdullah looked to cause more damage, but officials broke it up before they could.

Danny Hodge defeated Freddie Blassie when Freddie Blassie passed out in a single-leg takedown into a leglock in 0:10:54.

Danny Hodge moves on in the tournament by defeating Freddie Blassie. Blassie was too cocky and nonchalant when he had the advantage, and Hodge made a great reversal into a single-leg takedown into a leglock to get the submission victory.

Gene Kiniski pinned Johnny Valentine with the Backbreaker in 0:15:23.

(Argentina Apollo no-showed.)

Kiniski was supposed to wrestle Argentina Apollo in the final first round match, but Apollo had some travel issues and couldn't make the show, so Johnny Valentine stepped in. Valentine was happy to have the opportunity, but not nearly as much when Kiniski systematically beat him down. Valentine could never get the momentum and ate the Backbreaker and a loss.

The Sheik defeated Pedro Morales when Pedro Morales passed out in the Camel Clutch in 0:08:25.

The Sheik will be in the finals, but not without controversy. Pedro Morales was firing on him and was on his way to victory. Morales charged Sheik in the corner, but The Sheik pulled referee Petey Santangelo in the way! Santangelo was shaken up, but he wasn't sure if The Sheik did it on purpose or not. This all threw Morales off, who then fell prey to the Camel Clutch.

Danny Hodge pinned Gene Kiniski with the Oklahoma Roll in 0:06:18.

Danny Hodge's technical wrestling paid off again as he took a lot of punishment in this match from Gene Kiniski, but pulled the Oklahoma Roll out of nowhere to get the pin. Kiniski has shown already he hates losing, rocking Hodge with a knee to the back after the match.

Antonino Rocca and Miguel Perez beat The Golden Grahams (Eddie Graham and Dr. Jerry Graham) 2 falls to 1:

Antonino Rocca & Miguel Perez showed that they are the best team in GCW as they beat the Golden Grahams in a classic best 2 out of 3 falls match. There was no issue this time of Dr. Jerry Graham "not submitting" because all of the falls were by pinfall. After 25 minutes in, Rocca scored the first fall when he caught Eddie Graham with a small package. Ten minutes later, Eddie would even the score by hitting Rocca with the Atomic Kneedrop for the 1-2-3 and a tie score of 1-1. Finally, after a fast paced last few minutes, Perez caught Dr. Jerry with his Sunset Flip to win and retain the titles.

Danny Hodge pinned The Sheik after a waistlock suplex in 0:07:50.

Danny Hodge is our first United States champion! Hodge defeated The Sheik after a waistlock suplex, but he can give a small assist to Bobo Brazil. During the match, ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER came out looking to interfere, but BRAZIL ran down and brawled with him. The Sheik was distracted, Hodge hit a waistlock suplex, and this one was in the books. Congrats to our first US champion!

Bruno Sammartino defeated Buddy Rogers by countout in 0:36:27.

Buddy Rogers wanted no part of Bruno Sammartino tonight. It was a great match, but when the Nature Boy decided he wasn't going to be able beat Sammartino, he decided to walk out for the countout. He loses the match, but retains the championship.

Match observations:

Bruno Sammartino petitioned the GCW Championship Committee to get a rematch with Buddy Rogers, and his request has been granted with an extra stipulation added. If the Nature Boy gets himself counted out or disqualified, he will lose the World Title!
