November 7, 1964 - Madison Square Garden - New York, NY

Abdullah Farouk says that The Sheik is the most dangerous man in wrestling.

Our huge show from our homebase, Madison Square Garden, kicked off with Abdullah Farouk and his madman, The Sheik, out for an interview. Farouk talked about how Haystacks Calhoun will have to retire thanks to what The Sheik did to him by throwing the fireball into his face. Farouk further put over The Sheik and said he is the most dangerous man in wrestling and that there wasn't a man in the locker room that wasn't too scared to face him. This brought out World champion LOU THESZ, which didn't please Farouk. Thesz said he wasn't scared of anybody, even The Sheik. Thesz went as far as to offer The Sheik a World Title match right now. Referee Grizzly Jones ran out and we had a World Title match right off the bat!

Lou Thesz pinned The Sheik after a spinebuster slam in 0:07:28.
Rating: *** 1/2
(Lou Thesz retained the GCW World Title.)
[Abdullah Farouk interfered against Lou Thesz.]

Lou Thesz did indeed prove that he wasn't scared of The Sheik by meeting the challenge of Abdullah Farouk head on, even putting the World Title up for grabs in the process. Thesz wasn't working by the hour as he caught The Sheik by surprise with a spinebuster slam and got the 3. The Sheik attacked the champion after the match and clearly had intentions to throw a fireball in his eyes too, but BOBO BRAZIL ran down and chased The Sheik & Farouk out of the ring before more damage could be done.*

Boris Malenko and Gene Kiniski defeated Abdullah the Butcher and Bobo Brazil when Kiniski defeated Abdullah by disqualification in 0:08:28.
Rating: *
[Abdullah Farouk interfered against Abdullah the Butcher.]

It was surreal to see Bobo Brazil & Abdullah the Butcher teaming up given the battles they've had, but they both have common enemies in Abdullah Farouk & his men and joined forces to battle Gene Kiniski & Boris Malenko here. Though the intentions were good, Brazil & the Butcher just couldn't communicate effectively and it cost them. Farouk's men looked to have this one wrapped up when the Butcher gave them a taste of their own medicine when he pulled out his fork and jabbed Kiniski in forehead, busting him open! Brazil & the Butcher may have lost by disqualification, but I don't think they minded as they took a piece out of Farouk's men.

Ernie Ladd pinned Danny Hodge with the Boot to the Face in 0:12:09.
Rating: ***
(Ernie Ladd retained the GCW United States Title.)

Danny Hodge once again fell short in his attempt to regain the United States Title from Ernie Ladd, and once again it was thanks to Jack Davis. Hodge was rolling and almost beat Ladd on several occasions, and looked to execute the Oklahoma Roll. However, Davis tried to slip the Big Cat a roll of quarters to clock Hodge with. Hodge saw this and grabbed the quarters before Ladd could and looked to clock the Big Cat, but referee Greg Massie stopped him before he could. Hodge argued with Massie and said he was going to nail Ladd anyway, but when Hodge turned back he turned right into the Boot to the Face and another stolen victory for Ladd.

Antonino Rocca and Miguel Perez and Gorilla Monsoon and Killer Kowalski battled to a double countout in 0:14:29.
Rating: * 1/4
(Gorilla Monsoon and Killer Kowalski retained the GCW World Tag Team Titles.)

Antonino Rocca & Miguel Perez were attempting to get the World Tag Team Titles back, but Gorilla Monsoon & Killer Kowalski weren't going to make this easy - especially considering the hatred these two teams have for each other. In fact, the ring wasn't able to contain them as both teams brawled to the floor and were counted out, making this contest a draw. The Championship Committee has acted quickly and signed a rematch for our show in Washington, DC on December 5th, our last show of 1964.

Ray Stevens won a 10-man Battle Royal:
x Bruiser threw out M. Lewin after a throw-off in 0:00:56
x J. Valentine threw out Carpentier after an elbowsmash in 0:02:17
x R. Stevens threw out Crusher in 0:04:54
x E. Graham threw out Morales after a duck-down move in 0:06:30
x Dr. J. Graham threw out Bruiser in 0:09:55
x Jonathan threw out Dr. J. Graham in 0:10:37
x E. Graham threw out Jonathan after a chop in 0:12:02
x E. Graham threw out J. Valentine in 0:14:57
x R. Stevens threw out E. Graham in 0:15:56
Rating: ** 3/4

Before our steel cage main event, we had a 10-man battle royal where the winner would receive a shot at the World Title in Washington, DC. The man who will get that distinct honor is "The Blond Bomber" Ray Stevens. A lot of times in a battle royal, the biggest and strongest man in the match will win. In this case, it was the smartest man. Stevens was the smallest man, but he laid low and hid throughout the match, letting everyone else beat each other up and eliminate each other. The plan worked to perfect as Stevens lastly eliminated Eddie Graham and will get the chance of a lifetime against Lou Thesz.

Cage Match:
Bruno Sammartino made Bill Watts submit to the Sammartino Backbreaker in 0:23:46.
Rating: ****

Bruno Sammartino has finally gotten his revenge against "Cowboy" Bill Watts. Watts had been doing his best to duck Bruno for months, but Bruno finally got Watts in a steel cage, so there was nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. This was a bloody match as both men used the cage as a weapon with great success. Watts couldn't find a combination of moves to keep Sammartino down. Sammartino savored beating up Watts and making him wear the crimson mask, and when he went for the Sammartino Backbreaker, the fat lady had sung for Watts as Bruno won by submission and put this blood feud to rest.

Card rating: ** 3/4

Match observations:

1964 is nearing its close and Global Championship Wrestling plans on going out with a bang with a big supercard, featuring these matches and more:

WORLD TITLE - Lou Thesz (c) vs. Ray Stevens
WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES - Gorilla Monsoon/Killer Kowalski (c) vs. Antonino Rocca/Miguel Perez

And one more match has just been signed with special stipulations. Abdullah Farouk has stated that he is sick and tired of Abdullah the Butcher and wants him gone from GCW. He has offered the Butcher a match against Gene Kiniski where if Kiniski wins, the Butcher has to leave GCW. Abdullah agreed, but only under the condition that if he wins, he gets 5 minutes alone in the ring with Farouk!
