Baron Mikel Scicluna pinned Thunderbolt Patterson after hitting him with a foreign object in 0:13:02.
Rating: **

Baron Mikel Scicluna's win over Thunderbolt Patterson tonight turned out to be bigger than just a win, as it was announced later that because of the victory, Scicluna has been granted a World Title shot against Bruno Sammartino in 8 weeks time when GCW makes its debut in Lowell, Massachusetts on Halloween night. We would find out later why the title match was granted in 8 weeks and not the Philadelphia show on October 3.

Bill Watts pinned Gorilla Monsoon with the Oklahoma Stampede in 0:10:47.
Rating: * 1/2

A big win for Bill Watts as he managed to avoid Gorilla Monsoon's avalanche in the corner and come out with his Oklahoma Stampede to get the duke.

Pedro Morales and Terry Funk battled to a double disqualification in 0:12:00.
Rating: ** 1/4

Pedro Morales and Terry Funk used to be friends, but Terry's new attitude seems to have lost him most of his old friends. Funk went after Morales like they were mortal enemies, clearly not caring about their former friendship. Morales has a huge temper though and he dished it right back to Funk. This match deteriorated into a knockdown, drag out fight to the point where referee Jack Davis had no choice but to throw this match out as a double disqualification. Unfortunately, this would not be the last we saw of Terry Funk.

The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Gene Anderson and Ole Anderson) defeated Bobo Brazil and Peter Maivia when G. Anderson defeated Maivia by disqualification in 0:12:09.
Rating: ** 1/4

The Minnesota Wrecking Crew learned the hard way not to make Peter Maivia angry. Throughout this tag team encounter, Gene & Ole Anderson

Karl Gotch defeated Ernie Ladd by disqualification in 0:12:00.
Rating: ** 3/4

Ernie Ladd was embarrassed that he tapped out last month to Karl Gotch's sleeperhold, claiming that it was an illegal choke. Gotch said otherwise and told Ladd he will beat him with a different move then so there were no complaints. Well, Gotch did win the match again, but I don't think it was the way he wanted to. Gotch had Ladd beat with a spinning toe hold, but Ladd reached into his free boot and grabbed a small foreign object that he nailed Gotch with, knocking Gotch out cold and causing the disqualification. Gotch has vowed revenge, and says he won't play nice next month in the rematch.

Johnny Valentine pinned Dory Funk Jr. with the Figure-Four Leglock in 0:17:16.
Rating: ****
(Johnny Valentine won the GCW United States Title.)
[Terry Funk interfered against Dory Funk Jr..]

Like we mentioned before, we hadn't seen the last of Terry Funk as he got himself involved in the United States Title match. His brother, Dory Funk Jr., was making his first title defense, defending against the former champion Johnny Valentine in his guaranteed rematch. These are two of the finest pure wrestlers in the business today, but it would be the jealousy of Dory Funk's brother that would ultimately make the difference in this match. After the fight had spilled to the floor and Dory threw Valentine back in, BILL WATTS ran down and got referee Terry Taranova's attention. During this, Terry Funk ran out and attacked his brother from behind, dropping him with a piledriver on the floor! Terry rolled his brother's lifeless body back in the ring where Valentine put on the Figure-Four Leglock. He got the pinfall as Taranova counted down Dory's lifeless shoulders. Johnny Valentine is now a 3-time United States champion, and this family feud runs even deeper.

Chief Jay Strongbow and Wahoo McDaniel defeated The Cripplers (Ray Stevens and Nick Bockwinkel) when Strongbow defeated Bockwinkel by disqualification in 0:10:13.
Rating: ** 3/4

Nick Bockwinkel's attitude has gotten him a lot of wins, but it sometimes gets him into trouble. That happened here tonight as he and Ray Stevens took on Chief Jay Strongbow & Wahoo McDaniel. Bockwinkel lost sight of trying to win the match and instead was trying to hurt Strongbow, refusing to let Strongbow out of the corner after a 5 count resulting in a DQ. Bockwinkel had to physically be pulled off of Strongbow by his own partner or risk being suspended.

Handicap-Match:
Bruno Sammartino defeated Crusher & Bruiser (The Crusher and Dick the Bruiser) when B. Sammartino made Bruiser submit to the Sammartino Backbreaker in 0:24:43.
Rating: ***
[Lou Albano interfered against Bruno Sammartino.]
[Arnold Skaaland interfered against Dick the Bruiser.]

On paper, our main event seemed like a suicide mission for our World champion as Bruno Sammartino wrestled the 5-time and current World Tag Team champions, Dick the Bruiser & The Crusher. For much of the match, that is exactly what it looked like as despite his best efforts, Bruno couldn't get a toehold against the tag champs. The fact that Lou Albano was instructing his charges to keep pounding on Bruno instead of going for the win was making Sammartino's chances even more bleak. This all changed when LUKE GRAHAM made his return and went after Albano! Graham, the former World champion, was furious and wanted nothing more than to get his hands on Albano, who ran away to the back. During this chaos, The Crusher went chasing after Graham to try to save his manager, leaving the Bruiser all by himself. This was a costly mistake as Bruno made his comeback and locked on the Sammartino Backbreaker and got an improbable win. To make things even worse for Albano, it has been announced that Dick the Bruiser & The Crusher will be defending the World Tag Team Titles in Philadelphia on October 3rd against Bruno Sammartino & Luke Graham!

Card rating: ***
